  Letters of Reference

November 9, 2009

I have had horses nearly my whole life and unfortunately never been able to have them on my own property. Consequently, I have boarded at many different facilities. Meredith Shertzer’s place is by far one of the best.

Meredith is very knowledgeable of horses and their needs and equally attentive to each horse. She kept my mare at a perfect weight even with my changing riding schedule (if you have boarded for any length of time you know how difficult it can be to find someone who will do that!). She also provided turn-out and blanketing services at no extra charge (also very rare!).

All of her horses are well behaved and well mannered. My young mare didn’t pick up any bad habits, in fact she probably lost a few. I think being in an environment where horses are expected to work and behave themselves really helped me out with her training by keeping her in a learning state of mind, even when I wasn’t able to ride consistently.

Plus, you can ride as far as the eye can see, literally.

Believe me, it’s worth the drive. I would recommend Meredith’s place to anyone.

Sincerely,
Becky Dritz

I met Meredith the summer of 2008 after an online search for horse training. I was impressed by both her website and her almost immediate response to my email. At the time I was looking for someone to give me lessons, and train my 2 year old quarter horse. I live in Wyoming so I decided to drive to Nunn to see the facility and meet Meredith before bringing down my horse. After meeting her and seeing her work with horses I knew she was the one I wanted to train my horse. The training went wonderfully and she had me riding him within 45 days and I am a beginner myself.

I found Meredith’s rates to be reasonable and her knowledge of horsemanship to be vast. At all times she was dependable, hard-working, conscientious, and honest. Meredith is an exceptionable trainer and I will definitely be using her in the future. Please contact me for any further information.

Sincerely,
Melissa Donough

I have known Meredith Shertzer, aka, Moonraker Quarter Horses, for the last several years. Me being a late bloomer into the horseback training/riding area, Meredith had her work cut out for her. Not only did I think riding consisted on getting on the back or a horse and it just goes and stops, but I was blessed with trying to raise/train a foal from more or less birth on. I cannot say enough about Meredith’s patience with me and, most importantly, with the horses. Safety was and is her first priority, for the rider and the horse. Her uncanny ability to understand the horse and train it is amazing. However, her ability to comprehend how best to teach the human student is a work of art, especially, when just keeping my right and left correct were a major problem.

There are many more things I could say to encourage you to have Meredith train you and your horse but what I am trying to convey most convincingly is that Meredith really wants you to be safe learn about and enjoy your horse. An added bonus is her unending availability to answer questions, both during lessons, and at any time via phone or email. You will find a comfort level with Meredith for both you and your horse. She has also worked with my granddaughter and daughter who are novice riders.

Meredith has started and trained several horses for me this spring and summer. The horses she has trained have all made lots of progress and come back soft, willing and responsive.

She is an extremely competent rider and horse person and is willing to train and work with even the most challenging horses. She is very talented at starting colts from groundwork, through starting under saddle, and beyond.

Hard-working, and a dedicated business owner, she will do what it takes to get her clients the results they are after.

I would highly recommend her to have your horses trained. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Meredith Shertzer of Moonraker Quarter Horses.

Meredith has trained several horses for me over the past few years and I have referred many folks to her. We have all been extremely satisfied with Meredith's work. As a trainer she provides an excellent service. She consistently rides the horses in training 5 days per week. She feeds quality hay and provides a safe, clean environment for the horses to minimize injury.

Meredith's training skills are exceptional as she strives to provide the training that works for each horse on an individual basis. She is consistent and clear in what she asks of the horse which helps them stay relaxed and soft during the training process. She is a confident horseperson and is able to find that balance between providing the horse with boundaries without being harsh.

Meredith is honest, hard-working and very intelligent. She is extremely dedicated to her equine business and manages it in a way that anyone would be proud of. She has several boarders that have been with her for many years and she takes care of these horses just like her own.

I have used several different trainers in the past and, while I was satisfied with their work, I wasn't necessarily thrilled with it. I am thrilled with the education my horses and I have received from Meredith and am happy to refer folks to her because I know they'll be thrilled too.

Sincerely,

I am very pleased to write this recommendation on behalf of Meredith Shertzer.

Meredith is currently training my 2 year old filly and I am very happy with the progress. Meredith uses a gentle and understanding approach, asks just enough of the horses, rewards their good behavior, and builds a relationship with each one. She is not afraid to ask for help from others if she gets stumped on a particular problem.

She absolutely loves what she does and it shows in her dedication and performance. She consistently works the horses 5 days a week, even if it means working through the weekends.

Meredith is honest, and fair. You will actually get what you're paying for. I feel very fortunate to have met her and to have my filly in her program.

In summary, I highly recommend Meredith as a trainer or instructor. You will not be disappointed.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Last November I purchased a beautiful paint mare Myia. I had never owned a horse like her before. I brought her home after I purchased her and she gave me problems. I ended up being so scard of her that I would not even walk into her pen without my husband. I did'nt know what to do however I did know that I had a deep love for Myia! So I started asking people what I should do? Thats when someone refered me to Meredith. So I made an appointment for Myia to have a 7 day assesment. During the 7 days that Myia and I spent with Meredith I learned a lot!!! She taught me everything I needed to know to be sucessful with Myia all on my own! Since training with Meredith I have moved from not being able to go in a pen with my horse to showing her at the 2009 National Western Stock Show! We took 3rd place in Western Pleasure & 9th over all. If I had not trained with Meredith my dreams would not be comming true today!!! Meredith is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with! I would refer anyone! I plan to have her work with my babies in the near future.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Eskew

I would bring another horse to you in a heartbeat. You did great work with 'Chance'. Should I ever get another young horse that needs some polishing, you're my gal!!
